We are well into the second month of winter in Australia.
Winter arrived with a package of rain, windy days, and cold.
I, for one, was not keen on winter.
During the cold, gloomy winter, my mind was enveloped by a pervasive sense of sorrow and a multitude of shades of grey.
It felt as though it was the end of the world, and waiting to be reborn with the arrival of spring.
However, age has taught me to appreciate and be grateful for everything Mother Earth offers.
A Time For Reflection
The winter months have become a time of reflection for me.
I wrap myself up in the morning with my cosy throw, cup of coffee, and journal.
I catch myself in deep thought, and as I take my first sip of coffee, I capture the thoughts in my journal.
I reflect on what I enjoyed, what I want to enjoy, and how change is sometimes inevitable.
Those inevitable moments forced me to look at my life differently, be aware of the lessons learned and embrace new beginnings.
Winter Speaks To Us In Unique Ways
Winter is a season that speaks to each of us in unique ways.
Some people enjoy winter because it gives them a chance to partake in indoor activities, spend time with loved ones, and savour hearty, home-cooked meals.
It also provides an opportunity to catch up on household chores.
Some people lose motivation and seek comfort on the couch, promising to return to their active selves when winter is over.
We wait for the winter months to pass and welcome spring, which is full of colour and life and inspires us to step out and step up.
Missing Out On Valuable Opportunities
Reflecting on a time when I didn’t eagerly await winter, I realize that I missed out on valuable opportunities to boost my productivity and lead a more fulfilling life.
There are no regrets, but now I am a little older and wiser and have realised that life is far too short and that no second chances are given.
